Hurricane Katrina: Christian Church Relief
Sep 4th, 2005 by cadmus
Blogging will be light for a while because I’m working on two projects for hurricane relief.
First, it looks like I’m working on hurricane relief for my church. I’ll have more information later today. My idea is that we adopt a church in Louisiana and stay in close contact with them. This wil enable us to hear all of their needs and find ways to fulfill them. This will go beyond food and water. My hope is that we will be able to serve their emotional and spiritual needs in addition to their physical needs. I foresee this requiring several trips in trucks and vans to Louisiana to spend a weekend with them handing out supplies, rebuilding and cleaning up and providing pastoral care.
This will involve the work of our entire church but I will also be challenging our other churches in the area to adopt a church of their own or to partner with us and our adopt-a-church. But this won’t be limited to churches. If anyone reading this would like to take a trip to Louisiana, let me know. I’m also going to approach local merchants and media outlets to find support.
Second, I’ve taken a leap of faith and started a website to aid in the national effort of our churches to assist in hurricane relief and rebuilding.
If you would post about the site and/or email the link to your friends and family, I would be very appreciative.
