South Asia Earthquake
Oct 25th, 2005 by cadmus
I’ve been remiss in not posting about this sooner. Adrian has three posts, It is Time for us to help Kashmir, Somebody Help Us…, and Quake ‘is UN’s worst nightmare’ that inspired me to put some effort in spreading the word about the needs in Kashmir.
It’s been a little over two weeks since the earthquake in Kashmir and the official death toll is 53,000 with 75,000 believed to be injured. The death toll out of the provinces gets closer to 79,000. The situation is terrible and relief is difficult. This should be getting a lot more coverage in the media than it is.
The Himalayan winter is coming soon and that could bring many more deaths. If the world doesn’t get the message soon we may be asking why we didn’t pay more attention sooner.

A blog has been set up to help spread the news about relief efforts in the region: South Asia Quake Help
Just reading the this post, The truth is frustrated and the facts are faded should motivate everyone to find some way to get more attention on this and help. HT: Instapundit
One way to put the spotlight on this is tomorrow with the Blog Quake Day. Just like the Hurricane relief day, this is to blog about the relief needs in Kashmir and present avenues for donating. I’ll be participating. HT: Instapundit
