Christian Carnival XCVIII

Nov 30th, 2005 by cadmus

Welcome to Christian Carnival XCVIII, the Dog Show edition. I’m your friendly neighborhood dog-wrangler and I have the special privilege of presenting this weeks showcase.

You’re wondering why a dog theme? Why not a favorite movie, band or TV show? I had been considering a few different themes, but nothing really seemed to fit. Well, this coming Sunday, December 4th, our son will turn 4 years old. His party theme is puppy dogs. When we went to the party store he picked it himself, even after I was campaigning for Batman. He loves dogs and has several stuffed puppies he plays with. So I decided to stick with the theme for the birthday boy. Be sure to scroll to the bottom of the post for an extra special doggy treat.

Now let’s meet our canine pals. We have a packed house with 44 participants, so get comfortable and enjoy these kibbles and bits.

    “Krypto the Superdog” Award

We had to give a prize for a dog related post. Kim at Sharing Spirit receives the award for writing a post about her dog in Canine Loyalty or Complete Trust in God.
“Today my dog sat at the door like he always does when he wants to go out and it struck me as pretty funny and amazing. Why? Because he trusts that the door will open for him if he just sits patiently long enough. It’s not the door he’s trusting, he’s smart enough to know it’s me or my husband who will open it for him.”

    ID/Evolution

Daniel Levesque at Raving Conservative presents Debate of the Week 8: Evolution and God
Science and theology meet.

Jeremy Pierce at Parableman presents Intelligent Design’s Neutrality on Evolution.
Intelligent design arguments are not about evolution vs. special creation, despite how they are regularly misrepresented by those who oppose them.

Foyle at Verum Serum presents Mirecki Hates Christianity.
One of the myths in the ongoing ID debate is that only Christians approach science with an ideological axe to grind. So when a Kansas University Professor announced a class labeling ID “mythology” the school provost assured reporters that this was purely an academic designation with no derogatory intent. But the subsequent publication of an e-mail from the professor to his student atheist club revealed the truth.

In light of Anne Rice’s new novel, “Christ the Lord,” Andrea of Adam’s Blog examines the unremarkable childhood of Jesus.

God is truth, and the scriptures reveal Him as such. Part of a series on the theology of salvation.

Annie at Parresia presents The First Evangelists.
It was the women who witnessed the miracle of the resurrection. The angel told the women to tell Peter that Jesus was going before them. Jesus was going before the women, and it was those bold women that the angel commanded to “Go Tell.” The women became the first evangelists.

Rey at The Bible Archive presents Analysis of A Deception.
Just looking at how Eve was deceived by the Serpent and Herself.

Hodos presents Sola Scriptura or Et Scriptura?

Describes the literary structure Luke uses to tell Theophilus that God has chosen Saul as his vessel.

Colonel Jim at Carolingian Conservative presents Social Justice – The Concept of the Fool in Christian thinking about Social Justice; Introduction.
The post deals with a critical component of a theory of social justice based on my definition of orthodox Christianity – start small, thats what I say – the biblical characteristics of the ‘fool’ (primarily but in no way exclusively found in Proverbs) and how those characteristics should inform a Christian’s observation of the social inequalities and the policy prescriptions to address those inequalities.

That’s some great stuff, isn’t it? Everybody did a great job and I’m proud to be the host this week. Next weeks edition will be held at Attention Span, so be sure to check it out.

Here’s the birthday boy.
